An Entrepreneur’s Annual Review

You’re an entrepreneur. Imagine that you’re doing your annual review just like you would, or should, for your employees. What would you say to you about your year? What would you say about the things you have spent your time doing? What have you accomplished?

For fun, let’s dive in and pretend this is your annual review questionnaire. I encourage you to just read through these questions and quickly reflect on your year.

  • On a scale of 1 to 5, how are you feeling about the following areas right now: Work Overall, Wellbeing (work-life balance, stress, general health, personal life), Growth (learning, development, giving & receiving feedback) , Work Relationships (team dynamics, work relationships)

  • Do you feel challenged in the work you are doing?

  • Did you stay within your zone of Genius, performing tasks that only you can perform?

  • Is the work you are spending the majority of your time on revenue generating?

  • Could someone else do the tasks that you are keeping on your plate?

  • How well are you sleeping at night?

  • Based on the amount of work you’ve put in, how do you feel about your rate of pay?

  • What can we, as a business, do to keep you engaged and employed?

After I asked myself these questions, my biggest answer to myself was that in 2022, I want to do even more of the work that I am passionate about; the hands-on time I spend helping my clients scale and the time spent on becoming a leader in new communities.

I also realized that I could be spending even more of my time on revenue-generating activities and I made a list of additional things I want to outsource in 2022. Oh, and I want to take nordic skiing lessons AND enter my first mountain bike race in the summer.

What are your take-aways? How can you incorporate this into your 2022 goal setting?
