Your First Crucial Hire

Deciding you’re ready to hire is a crucial step to scaling your business. But who do you hire 1st? The answer is surprisingly simple.

You hire you.

Say what?!? I already do $%&*ing everything in my business? Why would I hire me?

This is about the mindset shift when you allow yourself to think about what is most important to move the needle of your business. Most entrepreneurs resonate with being the CEO, CFO, Sales Director, Marketing Manager, Bookkeeper, Accountant AND the Secretary of their business.

That’s a LOT.

So Stop!!! Stop the madness.  Ask yourself: would you hire one person to fill all of these roles in your own business? The answer is obvious: NO. That would be insane. All of that on one person would overwhelm them and they would do everything merely halfway.

You cannot build this empire alone - at least not in a sustainable way.

According to the National Association for the Self-Employed 79.7% of U.S. small businesses employ only the founder. Talk about a  huge potential for expansion or burnout.

It’s up to you to shift your mindset and hire yourself for what you are passionate about. Think about and consider:

What work lights you up?

What work drains you?

What work could you do all day and feel energized at the end of the day?

What work could almost anyone do that you currently put on your to do list?

Start simple and start by creating an “I don’t like doing this list” and add to it every time a task takes your energy. Also, add all of the tasks that almost anyone could do - tasks that don’t take a high level of skill or experience.

Think about being your own “Chief Energy Officer” before you put on any other hat in your business.

After all, if you don’t manage your energy, the doubts and fears and worries of owning your own business will take over and your business will be a statistic - a failing one. Hiring help, even if it’s a virtual assistant 2 hours a month is a great place to start!
