Why Hire a Virtual Assistant?

Here are Seven Reasons

If you’re like I used to be, the first thing you think when you hear the title “virtual assistant” is “virtual slacker.” Other thoughts I used to have were a mix of hiring one of those sounds like a waste of money and then also that it was something I could never afford; so far out of my ballpark that I wouldn’t allow myself to even consider it so I made it sound sinful. The way our brains work to keep us safe is fascinating, but I promise you that a virtual assistant is not a risk to your health. In fact, virtual assistants can improve your life in many ways.

I hired my first VA to help me with bookkeeping and organizing administrative tasks that felt overwhelming and that I avoided. I had no idea that she would bring solutions and ideas to the table because she works with many other solopreneurs with my same set of problems.

The first thing my VA did was set up a spreadsheet and method to help organize my business expenses monthly. Secondly, my magical new personal assistant initiated tracking my business mileage and ended up saving me nearly  $1,000 a year on my income taxes.  She only works for me approximately 2 hours a month, so this tax savings is even more than I pay her! I had never thought of the fact that someone might know more than me (and I’m a CPA). Point is, outsourcing is a great way to bring new ideas to your team.

Here are 7  reasons why you should hire a virtual assistant.

#1 - You can get things off your plate that you don’t enjoy doing.

If you’re honest with yourself and you allow yourself to let go of some control, you can stop doing things you don’t like. Your energy and creativity will explode when you give yourself this gift of freedom.

#2 - They have a skill set that you don’t have.

Seriously, some people are magic at organization, administration, and/or marketing. It’s their zone of genius. You likely don’t do your own bookkeeping, so why would you not also outsource some of the other stuff you don’t have knowledge of?

#3 - Accountability. You can have someone hold you accountable to get something accomplished.

There are certain things that you will procrastinate but are for a higher good - you’re human. If you have a virtual assistant you can schedule time with them to help hold you to the fire. I do this with my monthly financial review / goal setting and it is a game changer. The hourly rate it costs me is well worth it for how much my wealth increases by staying mindful about my financial goals.

#4 - If you outsource some tasks, you can focus your energy on increasing your revenue streams.

The more you spend your energy on your highest leverage actions to increase revenue, the more they will exponentially grow.

#5 - Free up your time and energy.

Freeing up your time and energy will give you higher capacity for new clients and projects. This equates to growth and revenue increasing.

#6 - Stop wasting your time.

You can indeed achieve more when you let go of doing everything. Every five minute task adds up to a lot of time and energy that is stored in your head remembering to do things. Hand those tasks over to someone else.

#7 - Virtual assistants become a part of your team.

This is especially valuable if you work alone. Never underestimate how a new relationship/coworker can give you just the boost you need to take your business to the next level.

Remember: it’s okay to start small.

Remember, hiring a VA doesn’t mean you have to go big - you can start small and outsource just a few hours a month. I have a VA that only works 2 hours total in a month, but the freedom she provides me is worth far more than the cost!

Hiring can be hard. Even when we have the tools we need to do it, we often don’t have the mindset. I help my clients with both setting up systems and creating the mindset they need for hiring.
